Good evening College families,

We are excited to have started the transition back to school-based learning for students and are enjoying having more children on campus this week. The teachers were very eager to have their children back and the children were thrilled to see their teachers and friends again. We are also loving the ability to see our parent community face to face, but with that comes some responsibilities that the Government is asking us to all abide by. As a College Management Team, we want to bring a reminder in regards to social distancing guidelines for families on campus.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the expert medical advice has made it clear that the 1.5 metre social distancing regulation and the four-square-metre rule is not a requirement of children at school. It does however, apply to adults in schools. Queensland Education authorities have provided recommendations for parents, staff and visitors in regards to social distancing in schools and Brisbane Christian College will continue to do everything we can to minimise any potential risk or spread of infection.

To that extent, please note the following social distancing strategies at Brisbane Christian College:
  • If your children are confident enough to walk themselves to class after drop-off, please encourage them to do so.
  • If you need to walk your children to class, do so promptly and return to your vehicle.
  • Avoid gathering in and around school grounds, car parks, outside classrooms and wherever possible exercise physical distancing of 1.5 metres.
  • Acknowledge the social distancing markers located at high pedestrian traffic areas like the canteen, reception and student services.

Please utilise the designated school pick-up and drop-off zones and procedures which are designed for the safety of our children and to reduce waiting times.

At Pre-Prep
  • The team will continue to meet and welcome families at the entrance and assist with signing in children in the morning and farewelling them in the afternoon.

At Primary School
  • There are team members at the front gate Health Station who can provide a little extra care and supervision to help welcome children to school in the mornings.
  • Canteen ordering is located outside, near the Depot Cafe at the entrance of the site and orders will continue to be delivered to children in class.
  • To assist parents with the ‘drop and go’, Prep and Year 1 classrooms will be open early from 8.25am, so that children in those year levels can go directly to class. Prep and Year 1 teachers will receive children at the classrooms, so that parents do not need to wait until the school bell goes at 8.35am.

At Middle and Secondary School

Thank you for your patience and assistance with these strategies as we continue to ensure the safety of our community. To read more about how Brisbane Christian College is responding to COVID-19 and other strategies in place, please visit the COVID-19 page on the Community Hub.

Richest Blessings,

The College Management Team
